BUSINESS NEWS

  • A Dick’s Drive-In style sign was displayed on Highway 9 near the former King Charley’s in north Snohomish on July 24th and was removed on July 27th—residents took photos as questions arose about a potential new location. Dick’s confirmed it has no plans for a location in Lake Stevens or Snohomish.  My Everett News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Snohomish County school districts welcomed the federal release of over $6 billion in education funds after the Department of Education sent messages on June 30. Washington received $137 million to support programs like migrant and multilingual learning and teacher training, and local districts such as Marysville (receiving $3.6 million) and Everett Public Schools (set to lose $1.6 million) said the funds will help maintain essential services.  Everett Herald

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Washington's congressional lawmakers reported strong fundraising numbers as they prepare for the 2026 midterms. Representative Marie Gluesenkamp Perez raised $904,000 with $1.1 million on hand while Representative Dan Newhouse raised $261,000 and faces a challenge from MAGA-backed Jerrod Sessler, and Representative Rick Larsen in Everett collected $331,000—indicating a competitive season ahead.  Everett Herald
