CRIME NEWS
- ➤ On July 27, Everett Police responded at 4:30 a.m. to a call on Casino Road after a male pedestrian was struck and dragged by a vehicle that kept moving, leaving him found further down 7th Ave SE — investigators have since impounded the suspect vehicle and identified a possible driver as they continue their investigation. - ➤ Almost a year after a federal grand jury indicted two men in connection with a 2022 Everett home invasion that resulted in Irah Sok’s death, a 24-year-old woman was arrested in a Renton parking lot and booked on charges including first-degree murder, first-degree kidnapping, burglary, robbery, and theft — she later appeared in Snohomish County Superior Court. - ➤ A new economic plan for south Everett outlines ideas to boost the local economy by encouraging local property ownership and linking residents with job training. The plan is set to begin work in 2026 (using state and federal funds) and will redevelop the Walter E. Hall Golf Course into mixed-use housing and affordable retail space. Everett Herald

- ➤ Volunteers gathered in the Washington Cascades in July to net and study the western bumblebee, which has become rare in lowland areas due to habitat loss and pesticide use — their work shows where conservation is needed. - ➤ Snohomish County Parks & Recreation received over $1.6 million in state grants to upgrade park accessibility—this funding will replace an aging dock at Flowing Lake County Park and Campground, expand Martha Lake Park’s access and parking, and add new playgrounds at two community parks. Public surveys for park designs will be held in August, and construction for the dock project is set to finish in late 2026—while plans for the other projects are still pending. Everett Herald
