Good morning, Everett. Here's your local news at a glance for Sunday, the 17th of August.

CRIME NEWS

  • On August 14th, a DoorDash driver in Lynnwood crashed his car into a tree, used a lighter and a cardboard box to set it on fire, and fled the scene but was caught hiding under a parked car—police said he was high and has been booked on arson, DUI, and hit-and-run charges while he now sits in Snohomish County Jail in Everett.  My Everett News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Snohomish County Health Department in Everett will use a nearly $100,000 state grant to form a Community Safety Council that will develop a gun violence prevention plan by September 30 — it will first collect local gun violence data and community input — and may receive up to $275,000 after plan approval. The council will then move into managing grants to support approved violence reduction projects.  Everett Herald
