ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On August 27th at 12:10 a.m., a 19-year-old male driver lost control near Olivia Park Elementary School when his speeding car ran red lights and went off 112th St SW onto 4th Ave W—traveling about 200 feet before striking a parked car, a concrete wall, and a house, which led to fatal injuries and his later death at Providence Hospital.  My Everett News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Students at Monroe Elementary enjoyed a festive first day of school Wednesday as volunteers greeted them with a red carpet, balloons, and bubbles — a celebration marking the start for over 20,000 students in Everett Public Schools. Mayor Cassie Franklin visited the school and extra safety officers were present as kindergarten began Tuesday.  Everett Herald

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Everett city officials use ChatGPT to write emails, speeches and policy documents for their work. Mayor Franklin said her team will switch to Microsoft Copilot in the future — staff must apply for an exemption to use other AI programs.  Everett Post
  • Officials warn that travelers who leave early will avoid heavy delays on roads, terminals, and ferry routes during Labor Day weekend when the Pacific Northwest is expected to see record traffic levels. AAA says the region remains a top holiday destination — local agencies advise checking real-time alerts and planning morning departures for smoother journeys.  Everett Herald
  • The Washington Department of Commerce is hosting a virtual public feedback session today at 2 p.m. on Snohomish PUD’s home electrification rebate program that gave 1,429 households free appliances, including washers and dryers, heat pump water heaters, and induction stove tops — targeting low and moderate income customers. After the session, the utility will apply for additional funding this fall.  Everett Herald
