Everett New Start Center opened Friday with a ribbon cutting, offering 90-day transitional housing and supportive services.
Residents will move in before the end of September as the Salvation Army begins accepting referrals from nine partners.
United Way of Snohomish County invites locals to honor Dolly Parton’s legacy by supporting the Imagination Library (which mailed over 375,000 books, engaged 20,000 children, and helped 6,900 early readers enter kindergarten since 2023).

🏥 Health
On Sept. 1, Volunteers of America will launch its Old Friends Club at the Carl Gipson Center (3025 Lombard Ave) to offer respite for dementia caregivers while engaging those with early to mid-stage dementia; the program meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and serves up to 12 participants at $800 monthly.
🏈 Sports
Washington Huskies (entering coach Jedd Fisch’s third season) must win key matchups including USC on Oct.
3 and Oregon on Nov. 28 to build a path to the College Football Playoff. Analysts say a 9-1 start is their best chance if no key player is injured.
