GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Everett Transit’s six-year plan shows the agency will upgrade its bus service by adding more service hours and extending Route 19 to the new riverfront neighborhood in 2027 — ridership is expected to grow 15% in 2025 and 5% each year until 2030. The plan also includes a new $2 million mall station opening in November, testing electric paratransit vehicles in 2026, and a study of microtransit as it works on a long-range plan through 2045. Everett Herald
- ➤ South County Fire restored staffing at Mill Creek station Tuesday—bringing its personnel to five including one paramedic. The paramedic is expected to reach Station 76 by Thursday to address community concerns over an earlier reduction in staff. Everett Herald
- ➤ The Port of Everett will start replacing the remaining 165 feet of its aging wooden bulkhead near Port Gardner Landing and the Grand Avenue Park Bridge on Monday, Sept. 8 — the $6.75 million project will use steel piles, reroute pedestrian access, and finish by May 2026. Everett Post

- ➤ A federal appellate court ruled on Tuesday in favor of Snohomish Regional Fire & Rescue after eight firefighters who refused the COVID-19 vaccine on religious grounds appealed a lower court decision that denied them back pay, accrued vacation, and other benefits.
