- ➤ On Monday, September 8, Michael Scaletta-Teates, a Bremerton security guard, pleaded not guilty to charges of impersonating an Edmonds police detective and unlawfully possessing a firearm—judge Jennifer Forbes set bail at $50,000 with trial scheduled for Nov. 3. Everett Herald
- ➤ On Friday, a 36-year-old man fled law enforcement in a stolen F-350 on I-5, causing vehicle damage before a deputy and a police dog unit chased him into Lynnwood—he was booked on 18 charges including theft, firearm violations and resisting arrest. Everett Herald

- ➤ Adam and Jill Fortney launched the Lead The Way Foundation to help teens build life skills and leadership in their community. The free eight-week program for 13-17 year olds starts Oct. 8 at Sno-Isle Tech Skills Center, 9001 Airport Road — it runs from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Snohomish County Tribune
- ➤ North Middle School will celebrate its 100th anniversary on Saturday when the school at 2514 Rainier Ave. opens from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and showcases memorabilia from its long history—old yearbooks, photos, and a 70-year-old track uniform connect past and present. Everett Herald
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A Snohomish County judge ruled that Everett council candidate Niko Battle did not provide sufficient proof of residency for District 4 and cannot appear on the November ballot — Battle said he will appeal the decision, leaving his opponents to advance without him. Everett Herald
- ➤ Central Everett will get a new small skate park in Lions Park that will feature a half pipe, quarter pipe and grinding curb—plus 150 feet of dedicated skating sidewalk—for kids and teens. The City Council approved seeking more funds in July for the 2,000-square-foot Skate Dot project and plans to finish the final design in Fall with an opening slated for Summer.
