EDUCATION NEWS

  • At Tuesday’s school board meeting, Superintendent Dr. Ian B. Saltzman announced that Cascade High School became a candidate for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program to prepare students for a two-year course starting in junior year. Families can attend the IB information night on Oct. 23 from 6—7 p.m. at the Cascade High School library on 801 E Casino Rd and learn more during High School and Beyond night on Sept. 25.  My Everett News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Aug 19, the Snohomish City Council finalized an interlocal agreement to annex 241 acres in North Lake, and the plan will go to a Snohomish County Council public hearing and a state review in 45 days. City officials said only new buildings must hook up to city water and sewer systems while current homes keep their systems—some residents worry about the changes.  Everett Herald
  • John Dimas, a District 4 resident who challenged Niko Battle’s residency in court, said after Tuesday's hearing that the judge’s decision upholds fair elections — he explained that he pursued the case on his own to protect voter rights without officially endorsing any candidate.  My Everett News
