- ➤ Downtown Everett is set to boost its nightlife with the new Late Shift Everett initiative, led by local business owners and community partners to enhance after-dark experiences. The program will offer live music, dining and art events, including a monthly First Fridays series—planned for October 3—to improve downtown walkability and safety. My Everett News
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ The Everett Fire Department responded to a HazMat incident Monday afternoon at Naval Station Everett when a package with a suspicious substance was reported in the Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Unit clinic—officials later confirmed the inorganic material was nonhazardous and no one was injured. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ At its August meeting the Snohomish County Planning Commission reviewed a proposal to expand the 270-acre Maltby Urban Growth Area—mostly for school and public facility use—and received concerns from residents and council members. The commission will hold a hearing on Sept 23 at 5:30 p.m. at the County Campus to offer recommendations to the County Council on the 2025 Comprehensive Plan Amendments. Snohomish County Tribune
- ➤ Mukilteo City Council approved a change that lets schools make small upgrades as a permitted use instead of going through a long hearing examiner review, which saves time and money. The new code applies only to upgrades that add 15% or less to school size and capacity and must be close to existing buildings. Everett Herald
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Compass Health has started Phase II of its Broadway Campus Redevelopment by demolishing the Bailey Building at 33rd and Broadway to clear the way for the Marc Healing Center, which will offer a 16-bed treatment unit and crisis triage services for behavioral health. The new facility, named to honor long-time team member Marcelene Lowes, is supported by a $14 million capital campaign+ strong backing by local and state agencies. Snohomish County Tribune

- ➤ On Friday, Sept. 12, the Edmonds-Woodway Warriors beat the Monroe Bearcats 16–8 in Monroe—its defense scored on a sack for 2 points and senior running back Criz Escandon caught a touchdown pass in the first half. Snohomish County Tribune
- ➤ Everett AquaSox defeated the Eugene Emeralds 6-3 at Funko Field on September 13 to capture the 2025 Northwest League Championship. The Sox hit key home runs from Charlie Pagliarini and Luis Suisbel — while pitchers William Fleming, Ben Hernandez, and Lucas Kelly kept the game under control to secure the win.
