COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Snohomish County will host two open houses for the public to learn about and provide feedback on the planned food + farming center at McCollum Park near Mill Creek, with sessions set on Oct. 9 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Northwest Stream Center and Oct. 11 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Willis Tucker Park Admin Building. The center will include processing equipment, a commercial kitchen and a year-round indoor farmers market to support local agriculture and food security. Everett Herald

- ➤ Everett native Jennifer D. Morgan released her book on business talks in September and will hold an event on Feb. 5 at Burkett’s—where part of the book sales will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Morgan has 15 years of work in finance, including a long stint at J.P. Morgan, and she shares easy tips on effective communication. Everett Post
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Everett city staff presented a draft five-year plan on Sept. 24 that shows ways to improve affordable housing from 2026 to 2030. The plan includes actions such as streamlining permits and studying a social housing program—steps that will be reviewed with funding details when finalized in January. Everett Herald
- ➤ Everett City Council approved design funding for a pedestrian bridge over Broadway near 10th Street that will connect Everett Community College and Washington State University. The bridge will begin construction in 2027 and finish by 2029—aiming to improve pedestrian safety. Everett Post
