- ➤ The Daily Herald moved its office to 2500 Hewitt Avenue near downtown Everett in mid-September after leaving its old 41st Street building. The move downsized its space from 15,915 square feet to 3,767 square feet & brought the paper closer to the city's core. Everett Herald
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Pop star Benson Boone visited Monroe High School on Monday, Oct 6 to meet students and former teachers, highlighting his strong ties to the community — his homecoming was celebrated by the school district as a nod to his roots in Monroe. His return follows a sold-out Seattle show and reflects his ongoing success as a rising music star. Everett Herald
- ➤ Edmonds College Art Gallery will display the exhibit —Origin / Identity / Belonging II— starting Friday, featuring 50 black-and-white portraits of community members taken by Michael Wewer, an alumnus who has taught photography since 2001. An opening reception will be held from 2:30-4 p.m. Friday and the exhibit will run through Dec. 12 in Lynnwood Hall at 20000 68th Ave W. Everett Herald

- ➤ Explorer Middle School celebrated the opening of a new gym on October 7—with features such as brighter lighting, higher ceilings and expanded lockers replacing the old cramped facility—and Mukilteo School District will seek voter approval in February for a $400 million bond to complete the school's rebuild and upgrade other sites. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ This summer was drier and warmer than average — Paine Field saw over 13 inches less rain than normal and temperatures reached 89 degrees on peak days while wildfires like the Bear Gulch fire burned over 20,000 acres in Mason County. Rain is forecast to resume later this weekend along with cooler, wetter conditions that may ease the drought. Everett Post
