EDUCATION NEWS

  • Unionized bus drivers for Everett Public Schools said they may strike if contract talks with Durham Bus Services do not lead to a new agreement — Teamsters Local 38 held a picket on October 7 and will resume negotiations on October 15 as they seek higher wages, better healthcare, job security and retirement benefits.  Everett Post

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Snohomish County Council approved a motion on Oct. 8 so that County Executive Dave Somers can sign an agreement with Everett to move a 55-year-old drinking water line as part of the Chinook Marsh restoration project — the new route will update the line to meet current earthquake standards for key users like Boeing and the school district — county staff will draft plans next year with permits set to begin between 2026 and 2027.  Everett Herald
