- ➤ Everett — The Glacier Peak Institute will host a fundraiser on Thursday at Floral Hall on E Mukilteo Blvd to raise money for programs that support rural youth and build sustainable communities. County council member Jared Mead will serve as keynote speaker — individual tickets are $75 with sponsorships up to $25,000. Everett Herald

- ➤ Fred Meyer at Evergreen Way and Casino Road will close Saturday Oct.18, which led city officials to discuss how to address long-vacant storefronts at a council meeting Wednesday — noting that few grocers serve the area. Officials criticized Kroger’s decision and are offering free route 12 bus rides to help residents reach other stores until March 2026 — urging local businesses to help update old lease rules. - ➤ Washington State Emergency Management Division said that the annual Great ShakeOut earthquake drill will take place tomorrow at 10:16 a.m. with over 1.5 million registrants; the drill will let residents test drop—cover and hold techniques and tsunami warning sirens to boost preparedness for a big quake. - ➤ The nonprofit Leadership Snohomish County held its tenth annual breakfast celebration and award ceremony on Tuesday at the Tulalip Resort Casino to honor county leaders—raising nearly $20,000 in funds.
