- ➤ The NTSB found that OceanGate’s faulty engineering and undetected damage from earlier dives compromised the Titan’s carbon fiber hull, causing the submersible to implode during a 2023 dive that killed all five on board and urging the Coast Guard to review safety standards across the industry. - ➤ Stanwood police say pedal-free electric bikes with pegs must be registered and operated by drivers with a valid motorcycle endorsement under Washington law—riders who violate these rules risk citations, fines or impoundment. They also advise following safety measures such as helmet use for children under 18 and limiting speeds on roads, sidewalks, or bike paths. Everett Herald
- ➤ Tim Ryker became Port of Everett's chief of seaport operations on Oct. 1—replacing longtime COO Carl Wollebek who retired on Sept. 29. He will lead efforts to boost freight shipments as global challenges affect marine trade while the port plans to hire a commercial strategy officer to work with him and CEO Lisa Lefeber. - ➤ Sound Transit is planning to add overnight bus service between downtown Seattle and Everett in fall 2026 — the agency is collecting feedback through Nov. 7 — to fill a late-night transit gap.
