- ➤ Evergreen State Fair Park will host a free four-day Holiday Spark event beginning Dec. 4 in Monroe with holiday inflatables, live music, dance, and festive activities. Paid attractions include pony rides, a beer and wine garden, and rentable igloos at $60 for 75 minutes — the event runs from 5-8 p.m. on Dec. 4–5, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Dec. 6, and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Dec. 7. - ➤ Downtown Everett hosted its annual tree lighting event Friday night—hundreds gathered at the intersection of Colby and Hewitt to watch a ballet performance by The Dance School, enjoy hot cocoa, and see Santa arrive in a fire truck. The event kicked off a month of holiday activities with free movie screenings at the Historic Everett Theater and arts and crafts for families. Everett Herald

- ➤ Attorneys for LifeWise Academy sent a letter on Nov 19 to Everett Public Schools asking the district to change policies that limit its off-campus Bible program by Dec 5—warning that legal remedies will be pursued if the changes are not made. The policies limit LifeWise’s use of school facilities and materials, and the district is reviewing the letter with legal counsel while some board members continue to oppose the program. - ➤ Snohomish County cold weather shelters will open when temperatures drop to 34°F, as the county health department announced on Wednesday. Community Transit (free rides available) and Everett Transit (shelter schedules updated daily) will help people reach the shelters. Everett Herald
