- ➤ Whidbey Island—based climate justice group Kicking Gas is expanding its program in Snohomish County to help households switch to electric appliances by covering up to 75% of installation costs. The group will hold its first online info session at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 3 and is focusing its efforts in Lynnwood, Marysville, Tulalip, Darrington and South Everett to improve air quality and reduce health risks. - ➤ The Providence Intervention Center for Assault and Abuse at Dawson Place offers free forensic nursing, medical exams, and emotional support to about 1,200 patients across local and surrounding counties, focusing on helping both adult and child survivors of violence. Rising costs and staffing challenges mean the center will rely more on philanthropic funding to sustain its services beyond 2026—making its role as a community safety net even more critical.
