COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Snohomish County is seeking local input on a planned 5.5-mile trail that will run from Rotary Park in Everett to Snohomish along the south side of the Snohomish River. Officials say construction may begin in 2027 (project manager Kristen Lohse noted route challenges as plans continue to evolve).  Snohomish County Tribune

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Everett’s Sno-Isle Food Co-op filed counterclaims in court last week against its landlord after investing in repairs and improvements to the historic Everett Public Market building, with a hearing set for Jan. 6. The store seeks reimbursement for its upgrades while working to keep its doors open for the community.  Everett Herald

CRIME NEWS

  • On Dec. 4, an Everett Police officer rescued Binny, a blue/gray mixed pitbull found zip-tied in a suitcase in a dumpster behind a building on Evergreen Way after she had puppies, and she is now receiving care at the Everett Animal Shelter as police investigate the abuse.  Snohomish County Tribune

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Heavy rains are causing severe flooding and road closures in parts of Snohomish County after a heavy burst of wet weather. Forecasts say a second atmospheric river will hit Tuesday night in areas including Carnation and Highway 203, so residents should heed safety advisories and avoid flooded roads.  KUOW

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • After heavy rains caused flooding along several rivers, Snohomish County Executive Dave Somers issued an emergency proclamation Tuesday afternoon. Roads are closed and residents are urged to avoid floodwaters as a new surge in rain is expected later this week.  My Everett News

HEALTH NEWS

  • EvergreenHealth recently opened Monroe hospital’s outpatient neurosciences clinic to offer local neurology care three days a week, with three specialists treating conditions including Parkinson’s disease, migraines, and seizures – letting patients avoid long trips to Kirkland.  Snohomish County Tribune
