ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Local photographers documented flooding across Snohomish County this week (including areas in Sultan, Snohomish, and Monroe) as water levels rose and impacted neighborhoods. The photo gallery released today lets residents see the event’s widespread effects.  Everett Herald
  • Everett city crews report the Snohomish River peaked near noon Thursday and will remain steady through late Friday morning. Officials monitor Riverfront Boulevard near Port Gardner and Lowell and will notify residents if rising water restricts access.  KUOW

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Federal authorities approved an emergency declaration to enable FEMA flood responses in Snohomish County, and local leaders deployed the National Guard to assist affected communities in Monroe. Emergency stabling and shelter services remain available as forecasts show rain for Sunday night + preparations continue for further water level changes.  Everett Herald
  • The Snohomish County Public Utility District approved its 2026 budget with a 2.5% increase in rates to cover a $15 million deficit—electric bills rising from 10.26 to 10.61 cents/kWh on April 1 and water bills increasing on January 1. The rate set is lower than the originally proposed 3% increase.  Everett Herald
