COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Following the removal of parts of the Pacific Stone sign, Everett Housing Authority and partners are forming a community committee to restore the historic landmark at 3826 Rucker Ave. The committee will meet before the New Year to gather local voices for a collaborative restoration.  Everett Post

EDUCATION NEWS

  • At Cascade High School, students collected over 51,000 cans of food and raised $19,000 last week to support local food banks. The annual drive brought together over 1,600 students to benefit hundreds of local families.  Everett Herald

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Tomorrow, the winter solstice begins in Everett with sunrise at 7:55 a.m. and sunset at 4:18 p.m. Forecasts show cooler temperatures and accumulating snow in nearby mountains, though the chance of snow on Christmas remains low.  Everett Post
  • Bird watchers can join the 126th annual Christmas Bird Count on Dec. 27 in north Everett's 15-mile zone. Organized by the Pilchuck Audubon Society and led by Scott Atkinson, the event runs for 24 hours (participants may observe from home or on the go) as they help track local bird populations.  Everett Herald

  • The Washington West African Center is hosting a community health fair today from 12 to 4 p.m. at West African Community Hall (19203 36th Ave. W. Suite 210) offering free vaccines, health screenings, insurance enrollment help, language services and African food in partnership with local health departments.  Everett Herald
