GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • WSDOT advises holiday travelers to plan routes early as roads still face damage from recent floods and heavy traffic is expected from Christmas Eve through New Year's. Motorists should check real-time maps and alerts to avoid delays.  Everett Herald
  • On Dec. 31, Everett Transit, Community Transit and Sound Transit will offer free rides. Sound Transit (Link rail and express buses) will run from 3 a.m. to 3 a.m. Jan. 1, Community Transit from 4 a.m. to 4 a.m. Jan. 1, and Everett Transit will operate all day free.  Everett Herald

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Everett Seagulls girls basketball team lost 52-31 in a 3A conference game against the Snohomish Panthers, who led every period. The Seagulls had cold hands in the first half but showed some improvement later, leaving the early gap too wide.  Snohomish County Tribune
  • Everett Seagulls defeated Snohomish Panthers 53-43 on Friday, Dec. 19 as the boys basketball team built momentum with strong defense in a doubleheader event. The team pulled away in the second half after a slow first quarter.  Snohomish County Tribune
